Can pets eat peanut butter?

Dogs CAUTION

Classic dog treat with one lethal caveat: some brands (especially "low sugar") use XYLITOL, which can kill a dog. Read the label every single time. Xylitol-free, unsalted, in moderation.

Cats CAUTION

Xylitol check applies here too; sticky texture is also awkward for cats. Generally skip.

Why

The food is fine; the sweetener in some jars is deadly. Label discipline is everything.

If it already happened

If the jar lists xylitol (or "birch sugar") and your dog ate some: emergency vet, now.
