Can pets eat corn?

Dogs CAUTION

Kernels are fine. The cob is the danger — it does not digest and reliably causes intestinal blockage requiring surgery.

Cats CAUTION

A few plain kernels are non-toxic; never the cob.

Why

Kernels safe; cob is a classic surgical emergency.

Symptoms to watch for

Cob obstruction: vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, no stool.
